Are You Thinking of Visiting With Us?

What should you expect during your visit to Lighthouse Alliance Church? Sometimes it can be a little intimidating visiting a church for the first time. We hope that this description of our services will give you a better sense of what to expect when you visit with us.
One thing you will notice is that the people are dressed in a variety of ways – from suits to shorts. So, feel free to wear your Sunday best or dress casually. The most important thing to us is that you have come to worship God.
Next, we believe that you will find the people to be warm and friendly. As a smaller church, we do seek to maintain a family feel. Please feel free to ask anyone for any assistance that you may need or to ask someone to pray with you, if needed. We believe that you will find a mix of people from different races, ages, and educational levels.
After an opening reading and prayer by one of our elders and a brief moment of greeting one another, the first part of our worship service is spent in praising God through song. Our worship style may be called “blended.” That means, we will sing both choruses and hymns. However, we do typically sing more choruses than hymns. It is our desire that the songs point to Jesus Christ and Calvary’s cross. To help us worship, we do project all the lyrics on a screen using PowerPoint so that the words are big enough for all to read.
We encourage everyone to bring their Bible with them to church, but if you do not have a Bible, pew Bibles are available. We also have free Bible available so that you can take one home as our gift to you. Many people inquire about what translation we use. Our pastor teaches from the English Standard Version (ESV), our free Bibles are New Living Translations (NLT), and our pew Bibles are a mix of NLT, New American Standard (NASB), King James Version (KJV) and New International Version (NIV).
Following our time of singing, we take the morning offering. Please give as the Lord leads you. And, as a first time visitor, we would encourage you to wait until you have a chance to get to know us better before you begin giving to make sure we are the kind of ministry that you want to support with your offerings.
After the offering, we sometimes take a few moments to give updates regarding some of our missionaries around the world, especially a missionary who was sent out from our church. This is for informative purposes, but also to make the congregation aware of prayer needs for the missionaries.
The next part of the service is set aside to highlight some announcements and coming events.
Following the announcements, our pastor comes to share from God’s Word. Our pastor considers himself a teacher rather than a preacher. He typically sits on a stool as he teaches verse by verse from the Bible. These messages/studies typically run anywhere from 30-45 minutes.
We close our service with a final hymn from the hymnals. On the first Sunday of each month, we also celebrate Communion.
With the exception of Communion Sunday (which may go a couple minutes longer), our services typically last no more than 1 hour and 15 minutes. Nursery care is available during the entire service, and children are dismissed for junior church when pastor begins his message.
Please know that, as our guest, we will not ask you to stand, nor will we do anything to point you our or draw attention to you. If you have any other questions about our services or what to expect, please feel free to contact us with any question that you may have.
May God bless you – we hope to meet you soon!
