A little change of pace…I am reading a book called, Jesus Take the Wheel, by Stuart Migdon (an elder at Calvary Chapel Old Bridge, NJ). He makes a few observations about how to know if you are desiring self-importance.
1. “Whenever you do something with the goal of recognition, it’s really about your own importance.” This does not mean it is wrong to be acknowledged, but is that your motive for doing what you are doing?
2. “Whenever a good deed is not not done because it brings no attention to you, then it is really about your own importance.”
3. “When you are looking for opportunities to tell people about your accomplishments, it’s really all about your own importance.” Do we tell people what we’ve done when they have no need of knowing?
4. “When you worry about what others think of you, you are too focused on your own importance.” Our concern should be what…
God never sits back and expects us to somehow guess what he wants from us. He is always very clear and up front about His expectations. Sometimes we need reminded. The Israelites had to be reminded what God wanted from them. Find out what God said as we continue our study of Micah.
